Happy Birthday Canada
Happy Canada Day everyone! We woke up this morning with zero plans for the day. Surprisingly it turned out to be quite the fun filled holiday.
Bern and Glo called me in the morning and asked if I wanted to go strawberry picking with them.
Of course I said yes! I love picking berries and I wouldn’t want to break our annual tradition. This was my 3rd year picking strawberries.
Amazingly, I was able to convince Steve to come. This was his very 1st time! Here he is looking super excited…

Between the two of us we picked about 10 lbs of strawberries…

Carly and Omar had also called us this morning and asked if we wanted to do something. So after picking strawberries we met up with them and ended up here:
Hastings Racetrack. We were all actually here last year for Canada Day too.

After a long and fun filled day at the track we need to refuel. To keep the tradition alive we decided to go for Mexican food just like we did last year. Last year, went to Las Margaritas, so this year we ended up at…
We were also joined by Carly’s hilariously funny and wonderful brother Jeff for dinner.
I ordered the chicken fajita roll…

Omar got the chiles rellenos…
Jeff got the vegetarian fajitas…
and Steve got the chicken chimichangas (picture not shown because it looks exactly like Carly’s beef chimichanga dish)
Since the restaurant was pretty much empty, our food came out super duper fast. Good thing, because we were all starving! The food was yummy, we were all very happy with our meals.
After dinner we needed to please our sweet tooth so we headed to Marble Slab Creamery
I was madly craving the Birthday Cake Bonanza, so I go it…
It was birthday cake ice cream with gummy bears and sprinkles.
Steve got the peanut butter caramel crisp. It consisted of sweet cream ice cream, butterfingers, caramel and chocolate chips.
